Our Music History

Early Dowling, standing, Alto Williams and T. E. Williams, Seated W. C. Batchelor, Thomas Jefferson Jeff Walden, John J. Crary

1890s T. E. Williams, owner of Third National Bank and founder of town's first newspaper, Batchelor, business manager of Dothan Eagle and author of Batchelor's Buttons, popular column, Walden, father of Mrs. Marvey Harrison

Mrs. Ina Walden Harrison, daughter of Jeff Walden picture to the left with an early Dothan ensemble.  She traveled with Chatauqua in her early years before marrying Marvey Harrison, pharmicist at Harrison and Lisenby Pharmacy next door to the Foster Street Methodist Church on Foster Street.  She taught piano lessons for many years.  Dothan Opera House

There is so much to write of here....from our music societies to those who have become famous.  We need pictures and music files of the famous and their teachers.  My own music teacher Ina Walden Harrison toured with Chatauqua.  I would love to have something special on the Carver High School marching band.  I know there is a story here.  Addie Anderson Wilson

And then there is Wilbur Walton, Jr. , Buddy Buie, John Rainey Adkins, Bobby Goldsboror, etc...........

A music lover could have a lot of fun with this...Connie Miller, Sally Northcutt?  Robert Register?
