Main Street Southern-Style |
Southern-style http://www.southern-style.com began as a vision for an online magazine and market for southern goods, an opportunity for southern crafters and entrepreneurs to have their own online shops for their homemade and handmade items. The portal to the website be a shop window that would contain items from those crafters who have their stores listed with Southern-style positioned in a manner that would invite one to click on the hotspot on the window and go directly into that shop to see that item and visit in that store. The dream included having an upscale magazine attached to the website to tell the world about the artists, artisans, chefs, restaurants, inns, lodges, hobbies, sports, people, and places that have made our culture so very rich. Eventually we would organize tours for folks coming to the South that would include their special interests -- a culinary tour with visits with the chef as well as to the gardens, vineyards, and farms that inspire him or her; historical tours, sporting tours, etc. Our dream is to sell the South rush bottom chair and hand-sewn dress to Kentucky Derby hat and mint julep. The American South is the Provence of the United States. We want to share with the world the cachet of our beloved South featuring all that makes us unique – our foods, designs, hobbies, homes, products, history, people, places, activities in one place. We won’t just offer items to purchase. We are southerners. We have a story and we want to share it. We talk slow—so we hope our guests will linger. And we hope they’ll come to visit our beautiful part of the world once they learn more about us. So, if you would like to join us, or just visit a spell, come right on in. But be sure to come back soon because there is a lot happening here at Southern-style.
