Dr. Z. T. Pridgen   Dr. Z T Pridgen (1848-1916) was a brother to my GGGrandmother, Mary Bethany Pridgen who married a Granger (He was related to the Civil War Dr. Granger of Houston County, Alabama and deceased Dr. Granger of Ashford, Alabama.) The parents of Z T and Mary Bethany were John G Pridgen and Bethany Carity. This family settled on the Florida State Line west of Grangerburg around 1823 or 1827. I think they came from Tellifiar County, Georgia. Z T was the husband of Belinda A Sellers.  Ted McKenzie

Enlisting the assistance of the Medical Auxiliary we should be able to come up with pictures of the doctors in our community up until 1950.  These early doctors practiced a type of medicine that is all but forgotten these days and those people and those methods need special recognition.  The descendants of Dr. B. C. Chalker...would be perfect to help organize this project.  They wrote so eloquently in the Houston County Heritage book.  These would include Dr. Mary Lyn Parker,  Olivia Crocket, Jane Wells, Peggy Bottoms whose family has been involved in the health and welfare of our community from its beginning.
